Ixaxaar Occult Literature, 2019. First English Language Edition. Hardcover, issued without dust jacket. Octavo. Though not stated, this edition is limited to 480 copies. Bound in green boards with purple stamped titles and an image of Hekate (a familiar Hekataia with her depicted three-headed and multi-armed, holding a variety of implements) to front panel, also in purple. Titles stamped in purple to spine. Purple endpapers. 160 pages. 2 full page plates (color and two-tone), plus two black and white illustrations. A fine copy. Increasingly scarce.
This book focuses on one of the most dark and mysterious deities of antiquity; the terrifying mother of witches and witchcraft, the nocturnal guardian of the crossed paths of life and death, the most ancient and capricious queen – Hekate. Even though she traditionally has been depicted with three faces, the reader will in this book become presented to far more aspects. The author initiates an exploration of the Mysteries first through the classical literature and ideas concerning the Goddess of Crossroads, but then unites the historical and theoretical material with a deeply personal perspective based on the author’s own magical and religious praxis. Includes words of power and holy titles, as well as numerous epithets used for Hekate in her various forms, as found in the Greek Magical Papyri. A very interesting devotional work which makes a fine companion volume to Jack Grayle's 'The Hekataeon'.
